The Lead Masks Case: Mysterious Deaths and Unanswered Questions

The Lead Masks Case, also known as the “Máscaras de Chumbo” case, is a mysterious and unsolved incident that took place in Brazil in 1966. Two electronic technicians, Manoel Pereira da Cruz and Miguel José Viana, were found dead under strange circumstances on Vintém Hill in Rio de Janeiro.
The bodies were discovered wearing lead masks, similar to those used for protection against radiation. Both men had no visible signs of injury, and next to their bodies were a notebook containing cryptic instructions, as well as an empty water bottle and two wet towels.
The cryptic note found at the scene contained instructions to take capsules and wait for a specific time, followed by a request to protect their faces with the lead masks. The cause of death was never conclusively determined, as the bodies were too decomposed to establish the presence of toxins.
The mysterious circumstances surrounding the Lead Masks Case, including the odd instructions and the purpose of the lead masks, have led to various theories, ranging from a failed attempt at contacting extraterrestrial beings to involvement in an illicit activity related to parapsychology.
